National Portrait Gallery: Secondary learning sessions
The National Portrait Gallery tells the story of Britain through portraits. Schools hub is a free online learning resource designed to support the study of Art & Design and History through the world’s largest collection of portraits. We welcome Early Years, School and College groups to the Gallery for self-led visits, exhibition visits and learning sessions.

Secondary learning sessions at the National Portrait Gallery
Enrich students' learning with our free curriculum-linked sessions. Choose a History focus to develop students' enquiry skills as they come face-to-face with key figures from the past, using portraits as historical sources. Or an Art & Design session, developing students' visual literacy and creative skills as they explore a diverse range of portraits, create works of their own and fill their sketchbooks with ideas to use back at school.
