Our Learning Team also develops resources and professional development opportunities for teachers. Our aim is to stay true to founder Samuel Courtauld’s vision of ‘art for all’.

Sense of Self

What is a self-portrait? How do artists reveal their identity through self-portraiture? Join us to debate these questions alongside exploring The Courtauld’s new schools/colleges exhibition, Sense of Self. Throughout the day attendees will analysis and discuss the similarities and contrasts between Van Gogh’s ‘Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear’ and artworks by contemporary artist Rachel Jones, in relation to self-identity.
